The Inauguration of Flood Memorial Monument

Kelantan Menteri Besar, Dato’ Haji Ahmad Yakob officiated Flood Memorial Monument (Tugu Peringatan Banjir) on August 28, 2016 at Kuala Krai District, Kelantan which was built to remember there was such a thing as the yellow flood, and is a symbol of thanks to the agencies, NGOs, corporate bodies and individuals who assisted victims of the yellow flood.

The monument project implementation was carried out by Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM), the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) and the Kuala Krai District Council and funded among others by PEJUTA.

The monument is located in front of the Guchil Caltex Station in Kuala Krai, the district worst hit by the 2014 floods, known as the yellow flood after the colour of the floodwaters which ravaged the east coast and rendered thousands homeless.
