CEPD 2019 – Notice Programme “Continuing Education and Professional Development” sponsored by Lembaga Jurukur Tanah Malaysia for the year 2019

We are pleased to advise that Lembaga Juruukur Tanah Malaysia has graciously approved the Association’s
application to support this year’s “Continuing Education and Professional Development” Programme. Your
Executive Council is most grateful to the Board for its continuing and generous support of this programme.

Your Executive Council remain convinced that the ongoing programme will continue to benefit the licensed
surveying community and contribute significantly towards increased awareness of related and up-to-date
technical and scientific matters and increased exposure to regional and international happenings,
environment and culture further uplifting the scientific, technical and professional knowledge of those
participating in the activities.

The Surveying Profession must continue to cope with and meet the challenges of a rapidly changing and
dynamic marketplace brought about by the advances and convergence of information and communication
technologies and knowledge and the inevitability of the globalization process. Licensed Land Surveyors must
continue to contribute towards making Malaysia a developed nation by 2020.

 

Objective
The primary focus for the Continuing Education and Professional Development Programme for 2019 is –
• the enhancement of the overall delivery system for the surveying industry;
• extending the role, relevance and significance of licensed surveyor within the national
economic landscape;
• enhancing lifelong learning; and
• ensuring the Licensed Surveying community continue to develop competence and capacity
to effectively practice the profession in a changing and dynamic marketplace.

 

Proposed CEPD Programme for 2019
The proposed CEPD Programme for 2019 has two main components, namely –
• continuing education and training programme including bursary programme for organised
short course;
• organisation of and attendances at local conferences, symposiums, seminars and
workshops; and

 

CEPD A/2019 Foreign Short Course/Study Bursary Programme

Financial support to ordinary members to participate in short study courses organized jointly by PEJUTA and
Institutions of Higher Learning in United Kingdom . The short study courses would be of the duration of no
less than four days on topics relevant to the Licensed Land Surveyors including efficiency in delivery systems, management and professional practices, surveying and spatial sciences, land administration and cadastre. The Programme is expected to cater for approximately 20 eligible Licensed Land Surveyors.

 

Eligibility

  • All Licensed Land Surveyors who are ordinary members of the Association before 1st January
    2017, who are in possession of a license to practice for year 2018 and who are not in
    arrears in their 2018 subscription with the Association are eligible to apply subject to terms
    and conditions of this programme.
  • Licensed Land Surveyors who are selected to participate in this Programme would not be
    considered to attend CEPD B/2019 programme.
  • Selection of Participants is at the sole discretion of the Association and subject to the
    endorsement of the Board.

 

Obligation

  • All selected participants will be required to attend the entire programme.
  • All participants must individually, submit a brief report to include, at least, one
    recommendation or observation on aspects that would benefit the profession or practice.

 

CEPD B/2018 Regional and International Conferences, Symposiums, Seminars and
Workshops

The provision of financial support to ordinary members to attend selected and sanctioned conferences,
symposiums, seminars and workshops held in a foreign country. The Programme is expected to cater for
approximately 500 eligible Licensed Land Surveyors.

 

Eligibility

  • All Licensed Land Surveyors who are ordinary members of the Association before 1st January
    2017, and who are not in arrears in their 2017 and 2018 subscription with the Association
    are eligible to apply subject to terms and conditions for this programme.
  • Licensed Land Surveyors who are selected to participate in this programme would not be
    considered to attend CEPD A/2019.
  • Selection of Participants is at the sole discretion of the Association and subject to the
    endorsement of the Board.

 

Obligation

  • All selected participants will be required to attend the entire programme
  • 1-day registration will not be accepted for reimbursement
  • All participants must individually, submit a brief report to include, at least, one
    recommendation or observation on aspects that would benefit the profession or practice.

 

General Terms and Conditions
All Ordinary Members must note the following general terms and conditions on eligibility for participation in
this year’s CEPD A/2019 and CEPD B/2019 Programme, which is as follows –

  1.  All Ordinary members (membership list as at 1st January 2018) who
    • i) have submitted to renewed license to practice for year 2019 ;
    • ii) have paid up their 2018 subscription to the Association;
    • iii) are not under investigation by the Board’s Investigation or Disciplinary Committee;
    • iv) have not received written warnings from the Board on any professional or administrative
      matters;
    • v) have not been suspended by the Board during the previous year;
    • vi) are professionally active; and
    • vii) have promptly co-operated with the Board, JUPEM or PEJUTA in various professional
      matters including attendance at dialogue and submission of requisite reports;
      may apply;
    • viii) those who have been approved and confirmed for previous year CEPD, but did not attend
      without Executive Council approval, will not be eligible.
  2. Not all applications will be favourably considered.
  3. Preference is given to eligible applicants who have not participated in previous year’s CEPD
    Programme.
  4. Selection of Participants is at the sole discretion of the Executive Council.

 

We are pleased to enclose herewith the application form for CEPD A/2019 and CEPD B/2019 Programme.
Eligible Ordinary Members who wish to be considered for this programme are required to carefully peruse
the information provided, complete and submit the attached form indicating your preferences from the list of
events. The completed forms may be sent by post or faxed to the Association’s Secretariat to arrive on or
before 5.00 p.m. Monday, 26th November 2018. Requests for participation received after the stated
deadline may not be considered for inclusion in this year’s programme.

It would be greatly appreciated if all interested Ordinary Members could co-operate with your Executive
Council by responding to the Secretariat as early as possible. We trust the Programme will continue to
benefit you.
